The best way to find out what to say to a person with anxiety is to ask them. Don’t be judgmental, be understanding and empathetic. Avoid phrases like “calm down” or “it will be okay”. The thing about anxiety is that the sufferer cannot simply “calm down.” Just remain encouraging and let the person know that their concerns are legitimate.
