Albert Einstein

1875 – 1955

As a teenager, Einstein began teaching himself advanced math and physics. He detested formal education in fact, his grades were mediocre at best. He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and received his doctorate in physics at the University of Zurich. He gained fame and popularity when he introduced his first works concerning relativity and began teaching at universities across Europe.

  • He proved that nothing traveled faster than light
  • E = mc2 showed that tiny amounts of matter could produce a tremendous amount of energy and was the basis for the first atomic bomb
  • Won the Nobel Prize in  Physics
  • He changed the way we see the universe and overturned Newton’s theories which had been the constant truth for 300 years
