Thomas Edison was a great American inventor whose work greatly influenced the world. He had 1,093 patents in the United states and 1,200 more in other countries.  He is credited for having the first industrial lab. His inventions generated new businesses and allowed the world to communicate like never before.

  • gave us the lightbulb
  • improved stock ticker was his first profitable invention
  • electrical generating system to distribute electricity
  • invented the motion picture, the phonograph, and improved cement
