First of all let me start with the question. ‘Is it even POSSIBLE to improve your memory?’

The quick answer is – YES!

No matter where your memory is today there is no doubt in my mind that you can improve it to a freakishly good level. 22 years ago I was a college student with an average memory and I took a course and learned a system that DRAMATICALLY improved my memory. I went on to become a 2 time USA Memory Champion.

Now, the real question is how:

1. My personal opinion on these ‘brain games’ that are very popular right now like Lumosity, etc. I think they are junk. J-U-N-K. I can’t be more clear about this. If playing video games helps you improve your brain and memory function let me ask you this – Would you tell your son or daughter to go play their Play Station so they can get good grades? I believe these type of brain games are FUN and EASY and that is why people do it. But not effective

2. Again, personal opinion here but I think you would get much more brain benefit from just going for regular walks/workout and eat healthy. My belief if if you did a control study of the ‘brain game’ folks and the ‘healthy program’ folks the health folks would perform better. And here is the kicker….It’s FREE!

3. For the most dramatic increase in your memory you are going to need to master the method of loci also known as the journey method or mental file system. The easy answer is that YES you can improve your memory. But it does take work and I mean plenty of work. The core of it though is the method of loci. Practice that and research that and you will be amazed

Some random things to improve memory:

  • avoid excessive salt
  • avoid excessive alcohol
  • get 8 hours of sleep
  • USE THE METHOD OF LOCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Think in pictures (for example when you meet a Lisa think MONA LISA
  • USE THE METHOD OF LOCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Exercise
  • Blueberries, apples, Omega-3 are good for memory
  • USE THE METHOD OF LOCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
